The Need
There are 20 significant conflicts currently raging throughout the world*. Every year, half a million men, women, and children are killed by armed violence - one person every minute. **
The most violent conflicts are spawned from prejudice modeled by adults and absorbed by the young children. Prejudices taken on by children become core adult values that continually re-infect entire cultures with hatred and violence.
Prejudice is experienced worldwide in countless ways, based on religion, gender, sexual preference, ethnicity, physical disability, cultural preference, and social and economic status, to name a few. By influencing children to grow in more positive directions we create our best hope for peace in the world. Pii doesn't have all the answers to achieving world peace. But we know it begins with our children, and with ourselves.
